Freeview HD signal turned on in London – Tesco Freeview HD boxes on their way

Just a quick note to let you know that yesterday, the high definition TV signal (so-called “Freeview HD”) was switched on in London – more about this here.

I have learned that Tesco has placed its first orders for Freeview HD boxes to be shipped from the manufacturers so they will be arriving on Tesco shelves in the next few weeks. The simple reason for the time it will take is because only from yesterday could Tesco and its electronics suppliers confirm that prototype set-top boxes and Freeview HD TVs will work with the new DVB-T2 signal being broadcast from the mighty Crystal Palace transmitter.

You can’t beat a working live production-quality TV signal to check that everything is OK…!
