Kirisun DM680 – switching from Chinese to English plus digital demo (video)

This is a focused radio article for my fellow radio amateur enthusiasts 🙂

In this video I show you how to switch the on-screen menus from Chinese to English on a Kirisun DM680 digital mobile radio. I also give you a demonstration of a digital audio conversation, and show the raw signal on a computer screen using SDRSharp (running on Windows 10 within a virtual machine on my Mac Pro) and a RTL-SDR USB dongle.

For those of you too impatient to watch the video, here is what you do:

1. Use the power & volume knob to turn on the Kirisun DM680 radio

2. Press the MENU button

3. Press the down-arrow button 5 (five) times

4. Press the OK button

5. Press the down-arrow button twice to highlight on-screen option 3

6. Press the OK button

7. Press the OK button again (to select the single option on the screen)

8. Press the down-arrow button to highlight the word ‘English‘

9. Press the OK button

At this point you are still inside the menu system, and you can press the BACK button to go back up and the MENU button to select an option.
